The Redwoods in Rotorua

The Redwoods is known in Maori as Whakarewarewa Forest (said Fok + ah + ray + wah + ray + wah)

This fabulous redwood forest is just 5k or so outside of Rotorua – a major cultural (and former tourist)  destination.  The redwoods are not native to NZ – being Californian!

There are hiking trails, bike trails, horse trails and also a walkway suspended up in the trees. I haven't done any of those but I have been to a couple of big dinners held outside amongst the trees that were magical occasions.

So this is one attraction I sure hope survives.
