The Stranger by Billy Joel

Well, we all have a face that we hide away forever
And we take them out and show ourselves when everyone has gone
Some are satin, some are steel
Some are silk and some are leather
They're the faces of a stranger
But we'd love to try them on

Well, we all fall in love
But we disregard the danger
Though we share so many secrets
There are some we never tell
Why were you so surprised that you never saw the stranger?
Did you ever let your lover see the stranger in yourself?

Taking you back to 1977. Remember the whistling??  The cover of this album is a bit weird – sitting like that in a suit??

Whatever, it is a great song with great lyrics.  Billy Joel turned 70 in May.  He has had 4 wives – I guess God loves a trier!

  1. I adore Billy Joel's music and lyrics...He is a gifted writer and singer, he married many times and divorced cause he travelled the world for his music..He said in an interview in Vanity Fair recently he won't travel anymore, he has two tiny daughters and a loving wife, he stated it is not good for his wife and his baby dolls.I admire his honesty and the fact he has a young wife and tiny daughters to cherish and love and be happy...Maybe people marry at wrong times of their lives, men seem to take a long long time to really grow up and it hinders their ability to marry and be with someone for life..I know this from 45 years of marriage, give and take, my hubs the oldest of 9 kids with basically no father in his life, he was always responsible and he knew you just don't treat your wife and mother of your 9 kids like crap..Love love your blog read it daily get a big kick out of it..Have a wonderful week and play some Billy Joel for me, I am over the moon for his words, lyrics and tunes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
