Hot
Cross Buns are traditionally eaten on Good Friday accompanied by
some vegetable soup. Good Friday was a high fasting day so meat and
dairy were not on the menu.
Personally, I don't like the Hot Cross Buns that are
commercially sold now. They have way too
much fruit in them – I like a plainish version with some cinnamon and only a tiny
bit of fruit.
Do you have hot cross buns too? They are said to date back to the 14th
century in England.
