I recently had a book called Food in Art by Gillian
Riley out from the library and it inspired me to post about a number of
artworks featuring food.
I find this painting both interesting and a bit
funny. While the nobleman is the only
one eating he is hardly alone! At my
rough count there are 2 dogs and 10 other men in the room. There is a whole lot of food on the table and
being carried by others. I guess that
was to show how important the guy was.
The painting was done by Grimani in the 1510's.
