Books You Loved: April Edition

Books You Loved: March had some very interesting books – as always.  Some reviews that caught my eye were:

Tina of Novel Meals brought over The Chilbury Ladies' Choir by Jennifer Ryan.  She said 'The stories are told through diary entries from several points of view as well as letters penned to friends and loved ones.  As you read bits and pieces the story lines dovetail into a fairly satisfying conclusion – tales of affairs, deception, blackmail, love, bravery and great sadness. If your reading tastes include stories set in the WW II era in England and you like a journal and letter writing format – you will LOVE this book.'

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty was reviewed by Elizabeth of Books I Think You Should Read.  The review said 'Big Little Lies is a brilliant take on ex-husbands and second wives, mothers and daughters, schoolyard scandal, and the dangerous little lies we tell ourselves just to survive.'

Marianne of Let's Read reviewed her favourite book The Children's War by J.N Stroyar. Her review said 'Have you ever wondered what would have happened if the Nazis had won? Well, J. R. Stroyar gives us a pretty good idea …

I can honestly say that this is one of the best books I have ever read. The story is completely intriguing, the characters are described in the best possible way, they really are characters, every single one of them, even the description of the landscape that usually is just added to the story is so interesting, you want to devour every single word. There are some very powerful scenes where you think you are part of this book, you can hardly put it down.'

Now on to the April collection.  Remember the posts you link in  don't have to be recent and the book concerned doesn't have to have been recently published or read.  The only requirement is that it is about a book that you loved.

To add to the list just pop the name of the book (and your name/blog name if you like) into the first Mr Linky box and then copy and paste the url of your post about it into the second box.

I'll be pinning your links to this Pinboard to make it easier for you to check them out at a glance.

  1. Carole - thanks for featuring my Big Little Lies review :) that was actually part of the synopsis that you quote here, but I agree with it - it was a very good book, and I loved the miniseries this past month as well.

  10. I'm sharing an interesting English historical novel - The Witchfinder's Sister by Beth Underdown, which is about the witch finder, Matthew Hopkins. I loved reading this debut book by a talented new author.
