The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick

First, a big thank you to Elizabeth of Silver's Reviews for alerting me to this utterly charming book.  I really want you to read this book but can't seem to find words that will give you a feel for it without too many spoilers.

I read it in less than a day.  The main character is an Englishman in his 60's who lost his wife a year before.  As a result of finding a charm bracelet he sets out on a series of adventures quite out of character for him. Some parts of this book are also screamingly funny.

Not only do you fall in love with this true gentle-man but I felt that the relationship with his children was incredibly well drawn.  The way families can drift apart unintentionally as a result of misunderstandings etc was compellingly dealt with.

Bottom line – read this book – I am sure you will love it.
