Castillonnes and Issigeac, France

Carole's Chatter: Castillonnes

Today's travel post is about places in France – again!  This time I'm telling you about 2 towns that were pretty close to Bournel where we were based.

Castillones is a quite nice bastide high up on a hill overlooking the Dropt valley.   The bastide was founded in 1259.  So much history.

We saw  a nice old 'pepperpot' clock tower and some old houses. Très picturesque.

Carole's Chatter: Sunflowers near Issigeac

We went looking for sunflowers to photograph – with only limited success.

Issigeac  is another medieval village.  It was built in a circular pattern with a lot of half-timbered buildings.  Most of the village's walls can still be seen.

  2. Castillonnes is a favorite of mine and I used to own a house on the square there. It has a nice sleepy feel to it and is like time has stood still, quite a contrast to Auckland as I found out in March.
Auckland has changed for the better and has a fabulous vibe to it, a fusion of cultures :-)
