The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly

The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly was a book I would never have read but for 2 things.  The recommendation of Dorothy from The Nature of Things and the fact that I enjoyed another crime novel not too long ago – The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith (which I'll be posting about soon).
This is the first book by Michael Connelly that I have ever read.  It is said to be his best yet – but I can't judge that of course.
I thought the book was a tour de force.  Just gripping.  The main protagonist (a lawyer) is not particularly sympathetic as a character but despite that the book got a hold over me – I just had to know what happened.
I agree with Dorothy that the best part was the courtroom drama.  Apparently this book was made into a movie in 2011 and I can see how it would lend itself to this.  It starred Matthew McConaughey as the lawyer.
Why is the book called The Lincoln Lawyer – well the  main character Mickey Haller mostly works from his Lincoln Car rather than having an office.  In fact he bought 4 Lincolns at the same time to get them cheaper and then is using them one by one.

  1. So glad you enjoyed it. Michael Connelly is really a very good writer. You might enjoy his other series as well. It features an LA detective named Hieronymous (Harry) Bosch.

  4. This film was on TV here this week and I watched it. I suspect the book is better than the film though! I must look out for it in the library

  5. I've read and saw the move, Lincoln Lawyer...Connelly's books are good and character Harry Bosch is great. I just started listening to The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith!! Maybe I saw this on your blog...as I don't remember knowing about this author. James Grippando & Lincoln Barclay both write some REALLY good books.
