Capital City of the Week – Colombo

Colombo is the capital of a country that changed its name in  1972.  But the city didn't change its name.

The country was ruled in turn by the Portuguese, the Dutch and the English before  becoming independent in 1948.

There is a large harbour and many canals in Colombo.

This is called the Galle Face Green.

Prime Minister's Office Colombo

This is the Prime Minister's Office.
