Very early
on in my blogging I posted a Travel
Bucket List
I decided
to update it to be current for me now. As it happens only 4 of the original
list made it on to the new one. So here
it is – in alpha rather than any order of preference – my top ten (11 actually
but who's counting?):
Alsace Wine Route and Strasbourg,
France
All of
France is fantastic of course but I've never been to the Alsace region which is
the closest to Germany. It has
interesting architecture and fantastic wine.
I am also very interested in seeing Strasbourg
The Amalfi
Coast and Positano ,
Italy
This area
is touristy for a reason – it's stunning so although I usually avoid tourist
traps this one is on my bucket list for sure.
Copenhagen, Denmark
I'm
cheating a little here – I did visit as a little girl. But I don't have any clear memory of it, and
would love to visit. Just look at those
colourful houses!
The Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao, Spain
The
architecture is unusual but the art!
Modern, contemporary and also a lot of works by Basque artists.
Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon –
lovely and also has beaches like this – unfortunately I imagine they are often
crowded.
Norfolk Island, Australia
Included
for sentimental reasons. My parents
honeymooned there in the 50's. Bet it's
a bit different now! Also home to the
novelist Colleen McCullough of Thorn Birds fame.
Prague, Czech Republic
It would be
wonderful to see the old city – much of which survived despite WWII.
Quebec, Canada
The idea of
a city which has a French culture but is in Canada is intriguing. But I'm not sure I'm brave enough to visit in
Winter. It never gets really cold here
so I don't have any heavy clothing.
Salzburg, Austria
Picturesque
and the setting for much of the Sound of Music – can't be left off the list!
Seattle, USA
A city
surrounded with much water. A reputation
for great coffee. It would be
interesting to see how different Seattle was from, say LA or San Fran.
Tuscany and Florence, Italy
The
scenery, the art, the food…. I have heard so much about Tuscany – definitely high
on the list.
There are
some fantastic places not on this list (only because I've been lucky enough to
go there as an adult) – like Paris, New York, London, Rome etc. And, of course, I'm not the slightest bit
biased when I recommend to you all that you put New Zealand on your bucket list.
Let me know when you are coming!
What places
are on your bucket list?
This was my original Travel
Bucket List
Great list! I've been a lot of places in the U.S. but I need to get and go international!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of visiting the Lisbon area this year. We went to the Algarve last year. The Algarve is incredibly cheap and the weather is fantastic and every body seems to understand and speak English.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I visited New Zealand-South Island last November for 10 days. Fabulous! Would highly recommend for everyone to add your country to their bucket list. For a glimpse of our experience go to my blog at:

I have 5 postings on New Zealand. BTW, thanks for your excellent blogs.
Great destinations! Traveling is so difficult for us at this point in life, we only have places in the U.S. on our list. This year is Hilton Head. I will definitely be sharing, so stay tuned!
ReplyDeleteQuebec City is perfect in September. We finally made it there in 2013.
