Stonehenge is, of course, the famous
English pre-historic monument. It is in
Wiltshire – only 8 miles north of Salisbury (which is famous for its cathedral)
The
first time I went there as a child you were able to walk right into it and even
touch the stones. Now it is all cordoned
off. I guess they had to do that to
preserve the stones.
Quite
apart from the mystery of what it was for, the mere fact that it was built so
long ago makes you marvel at the engineering skill!
Salisbury is the most beautiful Christian cathedral I have ever visited. Stone Henge could be described to be a Druid cathedral. Both incredibly beautiful in their own dynamic way. A really inspiring post Carole!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! This is a place I've always wanted to go.
