Manapouri is a place you never
forget. You will find it towards the
bottom of New Zealand's South Island in Fiordland. And yes there are fiords (which we call
"sounds") as the name suggests.
A
trip on Lake Manapouri is, in my view, even more spectacular than the more
touristy Milford Sound.
And
over the other side of the lake you will find one of the world's largest
underground hydro power stations – and if you go on a tour down to the powerhouse
you will be driven on the only piece of road in New Zealand where you must
drive on the right.
And
on from the power station you will find the Wilmot Pass which is lovely at any
time of year – but very special when there is snow.
After
you go over the pass you go down to Doubtful Sound which is just lovely.
Looks Beautiful!
