Here
it is June already – almost half way through the year! And here is the June Books You Loved link up.
Before
getting to the new edition, let me tell you about some of the reviews linked in
to the May edition.
In
no particular order:
Water For Elephants was reviewed by Joe the
Revelator on The Inquisitive Loon. He
said " Water for Elephants is a historical fiction written by Sara Gruen, with an
emphasis on Fiction. From what I can tell, this book is at its core a romance
set in the 1930′s." While
Joe's review isn't wholly positive, this is one book I really enjoyed myself.
The Fast Diet was reviewed by Carol at
The Well. She said "There is a lot of science in
this book, but I think most people will find it engaging and doable!" This is the
book that advocates eating what you want on 5 days a week and restricting your
calories on 2 non-consecutive days.
Haven't tried it myself!
The World's Strongest Librarian was reviewed by Julia at
Pages of Julia Blog. She said "Josh’s memoir is
thoughtful, heartfelt, often hilarious– and unsparingly honest"
I
fell for The Selection by Kiera Cass
just because of its cover! It was
reviewed by Lauryn of April Books. She said "This book is a modern day fairy tale that had me hooked from
beginning to end."
Now on to the new collection of
Books You Loved:
I
have made up a Pinboard for
the June edition of Books You Loved and will be pinning the links to it as
quickly as I can. If you visit the
Pinboard it will help you choose which links to visit and comment on.
Just
link in a review or reviews of books that you loved via the Mr Linky boxes below. It would be good
if you put both your name and the name of the book into the first box and then
copied the url for you review into the second one.
I
am looking forward to reading about the books you loved. The TBR pile is getting longer and
longer. I need a long plane trip to
catch up a bit!
Happy
linking!
I read The Selection recently, as well as The Elite, and even though I liked them, they were both shallow and I gave them 2* only.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention I read a lot of bad books in May; not a good month for me.

ReplyDeleteI've read a lot of good stuff recently, but Bad Unicorn takes the cake for best new find. Been picking up. Lot of short story collections and non fic too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole. As always, it is interesting to see what books others enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThis month I'm sticking to what I know: cartoons!
ReplyDeleteI've linked you to two books that I loved within the past month: When Will There Be Good News? by Kate Atkinson and The Round House by Louise Erdrich. Two wonderful books by two wonderful writers.
ReplyDeleteHi, Carole.
ReplyDeleteAs always, thanks for this forum. I'm inserting several links this month.
Regards.
I linked to a book I read awhile ago :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for inviting me to participate! :-) I'll try to remember to do this each month!
ReplyDeleteI left a couple. I hope that's alright. Thanks for the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot about The Selection but haven't read it yet. I loved Water for Elephants! I left a link for my favorite of the month so far and it was Openly Straight by Bill Konigsberg. It's a YA contemp about a boy who moves to a boarding school so he can go label free after being the 'gay boy' at his school for so long. It was AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteI picked BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP for my book club. We all scored it highly it was a really great suspense thriller type read.
ReplyDeleteHi Carole,
ReplyDeleteI linked We Die Alone by David Howarth, a WW2 story. Sorry, I accidentally put it in twice but don't know how to delete one of them.
Thanks for the invite over Carole - I left a link to the unexpected pleasure of a lost travel book!
ReplyDeleteThank you for inviting me to join!
ReplyDeleteJesus Wept was my suggestion.

ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for inviting me over here. I'm afraid it was only after I posted my link that I realised it should have been a review from the past month! Sorry mine is a bit older! Feel free to delete my link if not appropriate (the book is well worth checking out, though!)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite book last month: The Museum of Innocence although, I think I might add a second book. ;-)
ReplyDeleteMarianne from Let's Read
Tooooo many good things to read! My TBR pile is also out of control these days :-(
ReplyDeleteHello! Thank you for featuring my Blog this month! It's always so much fun when you do! The book I loved this month was The Universe Versus Alex Woods by Gavin Extence however I am really enjoying the Woman in White and am hoping to finish it soon too :-) Hope you're having a good week!

ReplyDeleteVirginia @ My Full Cup
Thanks for inviting me, Carole. I've posted my link!
ReplyDeleteThanks for inviting me again, Carole! So far, no really imagination-catching books have interested me, but I will be back again soon! :)
ReplyDeleteHello again, Carole! :) I've just posted my link today. Nancy Thayer is an author who I have five (probably several more) books by, currently sitting on my bookshelf. I believe that "Beachcombers: A Novel" is the first book by Nancy Thayer that I've actually read (at least that I can remember! :)) She's quite a wonderful writer. See you next month, Carole! :)
ReplyDeleteSo cool to see my debut on the list! Thanks, Carole (and Heather, for linking!) ~Serena
ReplyDeleteHi Carole,
ReplyDeleteThis month I was smiling and crying while reading "WHEN I SEE YOU" BY KATHERINE OWEN.
Lovely surprised my this teen romance: "THE KISSING BOOTH" BY BETH REEKLES.
And hooked by THE SILENT WIFE BY A.S.A. HARRISON. A really good one!
I didn't see a July edition yet, so I just posted the book I loved to the June edition. Once a July edition is created, I'll link it to that too.
