Flag of the Week – Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka was known as Ceylon and used to be a British colony.  It became Sri Lanka in 1972. You will see that it has a gold lion holding a sword on a red background.  The four leaves around the lion are a Buddhist symbol.  The green and orange stripes are there to represent the Muslim and Tamil communities.  I think it is a very distinctive flag.
