Don Binney and his birds




Don Binney is a New Zealand contemporary artist.  His work is mainly realist in nature – ie he painted objects as they were but with sharpened reality.  You can see a typical example in the work above.



Binney is particularly well known for his birds– the feathered kind set in landscapes.  The works you see here will give you a feel of what is particularly iconic New Zealand.  Hope you enjoy them.


Sad update:  Don Binney unfortunately passed away on the 14th September 2012.  RIP to an amazing talent.
