The song, Spicks and Specks, was my all-time
favourite when I was a teenager. It
dates from 1966. It was written and
recorded in Sydney and was the first hit the Bee Gees had. Well before their reincarnation in
disco. It is a huge ballad. But looking back at the lyrics now I can see
it fed into teenage angst very well.
“All of my life
I call yesterday
The spicks and the specks
Of my life've gone away”
Barry
Gibb, who is the last surviving Bee Gee, was born on 1
September 1946.
