I
am doing this teaser post about our favourite summer cocktail – the Japanese Slipper, because on Friday,
the Food on Friday series is going to be about cocktails and mocktails. Should be great.
We
discovered this cocktail many years ago on a holiday in Fiji and make it for
ourselves on lazy summer afternoons on vacation.
The
ingredients are equal quantities of Midori (which is a bright green melon
liqueur), Cointreau (orange flavoured clear liqueur) and lemon juice. Although both the Midori and Cointreau are
really sweet the cocktail isn't because of the lemon juice. It is a potent little drop though.
I tend to drink wine but I am sometimes tempted to try these cocktail recipes. Probably have to stock up a bit on ingredients!
ReplyDeleteI love that color :) Looks really good, I love Cointreau, never had Midori!
ReplyDeleteLove the color of it & Cointreau I like that taste as well.
ReplyDeleteSounds good.
It's beautiful!! I think I'll have to try it. Oh good -- I'll be able to link up to your Friday meme next week ... I have a couple of good posts.
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny name for a cocktail! I'm curious to try this -- never had Midori.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw the cocktail glass I thought, I want that!! Even before reading your post. The coloring is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI am always on the lookout for a tasty cocktail!!
ReplyDeleteI love the name and the color is so pretty. If I ever get a chance to order a cocktail I will order one of these!
ReplyDeleteYum. Looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteOoh I never heard of this drink before - sounds delightful and love the color!
ReplyDeleteYum, finally, something to use that bottle of Cointreau for!
ReplyDeleteLoving all the cocktail recipes this weekend! Midori is good stuff.
ReplyDeleteLOL I couldn't believe Japanese slippers was *really* the title for a cooking post. But it is! And I love all 3 ingredients so it's a must-try. First I have to get my hands on some melon liqueur - that's pretty hard to get... :(
ReplyDeleteWe drink wine often, but cocktails are a special treat. I haven't had Midori in years... time to dust off the bottle!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely cocktail- thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOooo I would love to taste this. I might just order this the next time I'm out with the girls. :)
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite cocktails when I was still drinking liquor was a Midori sour, so I'm sure this one would be right up my alley. YUM.
ReplyDeleteYum! Thanks for linking up! I pinned it! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks terrific. I have some Midori in my cupboard and wasn't sure what to do with it.
